Mastering the art of cost-cutting (that sparks joy!)

Yes, may ginhawa sa pagtitipid, a.k.a. more pera! Kaya let’s set your priorities straight 😉

Mastering the art of cost-cutting (that sparks joy!)

The word ‘tipid’ sometimes gets a negative connotation. Iisipin ng ibang tao na may binabayaran kang utang, especially when you say ‘no’ sa mga ganaps. O kaya naman sadyang kapos lang talaga yung kinikita mo versus sa mga mismong kailangan mo para makaraos.

In pursuing financial stability, mastering the art of cost-cutting doesn’t have to mean cutting out joy. It’s all about priorities — you can trim your expenses while still living your best life. ‘Di porket nagtitipid ka, ‘di ka na pwede maging masaya.

Here are some tips to help you navigate cost-cutting without feeling deprived:

  1. Create a budget that matches your lifestyle. Begin by budgeting according to what brings you joy. When your spending aligns with your values, staying committed to your financial goals becomes easier.

  2. Plan and cook your meals. Think of how much you can actually save when you prepare your food. Go and experiment with new recipes na pasok sa budget!

  3. Bring your water and coffee to work (or anywhere). Kung kaya naman gawin sa bahay at ibaon, why not? Instead of making your down to the nearest convenience store, investing in a good insulated water bottle helps you save money in the long run. Plus, you’re being eco-friendly by refusing single-use plastic.

  4. Forget the U.K., Ukay-ukay is the place to be! Whether it’s exploring the sales racks of your favorite clothing brand or visiting the nearest ukay-ukay in the hood, there’s joy (and savings!) to be found in seeking out deals and discounts.

  5. Streamline your subscriptions. Assess your subscriptions and wave goodbye to the ones you barely use. Trim the fat, as they say.

  6. Declutter your home. Malay mo, with the amount of unused stuff you might find in your house, whether it’s old clothes, furniture, kitchenware, atbp., makapagtayo ka pa ng garage sale and make significant money from it. Just be more intentional with the things you want in your life, as Marie Kondo would say.

  7. Learn when to say ‘no’ and practice mindful spending. Before making a purchase, pause and consider whether it aligns with your values and goals. By embracing mindful spending habits, you can ensure that every spend sparks joy!

By incorporating these small habits into your daily life, you'll find yourself trimming expenses without missing out on the experiences that truly matter to you.

Just remember, cost-cutting and keeping a budget aren’t about saying no to joy—it's about making intentional decisions and spending with purpose, so you can live your best life (without going broke).
