Without going broke, paano ba mag-destress?

Sa hirap ng buhay ngayon, parang okay din pala maging halaman na lang…

Without going broke, paano ba mag-destress?

Real talk: may mga moments talaga na uninspired tayo at nawawalan na ng will to live. Balancing work, family duties, love life, and social commitments make it tough to carve out time for ourselves.

And when the opportunity presents itself, lalo na pag weekend o holiday, that's when we go to escape, explore new places, and savor delicious meals. But let’s be honest, sometimes all we really want to do is curl up for a nap.

So, paano ba mag-destress at mag-self-care na 'di nauuwi sa poorer sleep quality, more stress, at more gastos? We don’t have all the answers dahil iba-iba ang trip natin sa buhay.

But trying each one of these low-budget tips every week could bring your stress levels down to normal:

Incorporate an easy cardio activity into your routine.

Walking is a great way to clear your mind. Maglakad-lakad ka sa area niyo kahit 10-20 minutes in the morning or between work hours para mas maging relaxed ang mood mo.

Clean one room or area of your house you’ve been putting off for a while.

Ika nga ni Marie Kondo, a messy room equals a messy mind. To help you ease into cleaning, choose a small space, like a cluttered closet or corner, and set a timer for 15-30 minutes.

Lumabas ka ng bahay at mag-people watch.

In short, magpaka-main character ka, ‘cause you are the main character of your own life. Find a cozy spot in your city, like a cafe or brunch place, and observe daily life around you for a sense of connection and perspective.

Maligo bago matulog.

Alam mo yung saying na, “It’s just a bad day, not a bad life,”? It’s a nice quote to put things in a lighter perspective, proving na tayo’y tao lamang, nagkakamali rin. And one way to end a bad day is simple: take a warm shower or bath before bed to relax and calm your mind.

Put on your favorite romcom and have a good cry.

Minsan talaga you have to let yourself feel all the emotions with some good ol’ Star Cinema cryer, tulad ng Hello, Love, Goodbye, The Hows of Us, o A Second Chance. Pramis, you’ll likely feel lighter and more relaxed afterward.

Bumirit sa karaoke kahit sintunado.

Kung hindi ka naman iyakin, kumanta ka na lang kahit wala kang vocal prowess. It doesn’t matter kung kakanta ka sa KTV bar o ipa-plug mo lang YouTube sa Smart TV niyo, as long as you’re channeling your inner Sarah G and Aegis, singing your heart out is a great way to let loose!

Kung may car ka, go for a long drive kahit walang destination.

Lakas talaga maka-main character ‘pag marunong ka mag-drive. So, hit the road, turn up the music, and enjoy a scenic drive sa Skyway o NLEX for a change of scenery.

Take a Mental Health Leave at work.

Kung feel mo overwhelmed at burnt out ka na, wag kang mahiyang mag-file ng sick leave for your mental health. Use this time to rest, recharge, and focus on activities that bring you joy and peace of mind.

See? Di mo naman kailangan ng ginto to enjoy the simple pleasures of life. Pero kung ‘yan din naman ang trip mo, why not! All it takes is a little creativity and a willingness to try new things. Dasurv mo yan!
